How to catch a familiar

    Defeat the creature

    Fight the wild familiar down in combat until it drops to a catchable spirit.

  2. 02

    Hold F on its spirit

    Once the creature falls, hold F on the spirit it leaves behind to bind it to you.

  3. 03

    Burn Spirit Incense for better odds

    Spirit Incense raises catch chance; a rare Celestial bond is more likely while incense is active.

How many familiars are in Witchspire?
There are 22 familiars in the current Early Access build, spread across 6 elements: Lux, Crystal, Astral, Nox, Nature, Ethereal.
How do you catch familiars?
Defeat the wild creature in combat, then hold F on the spirit it leaves behind. Spirit Incense improves your catch odds and your chance at a rare Celestial bond.
Which familiars are the starters?
There are 4 starters you choose from at the start: Locto (Lux), Bril (Crystal), Quol (Ethereal) and Fien (Nox). The community generally rates Quol the safest first pick.
How do familiar rarities work?
Rarity is rolled per bond, not per species — common, epic, legendary, plus the rare Celestial tier. That means the same familiar can be common on one bond and Celestial on another, so the roster above does not label species by rarity. Burning Spirit Incense raises your Celestial odds.
Why catch familiars at all?
Many familiars unlock or speed up crafting stations — 14 of the 22 have a crafting role (Furnaces, Sawmill, Cauldrons, Spinner, and more). The tier list ranks them by that utility.
